The Aeolian Islands look like pebbles thrown into the sea from the tip of his boot; long ago they were all active volcanoes and Stromboli still is today. Salina, the greenest of the Aeolian Islands, named after a small salt lake from where the locals fetched salt to preserve their capers which still are exported all over the world. The island of Salina is also famous for the Malvasia, a delicious sweet dessert wine with the amber color.
Our property is located in Salina, Leni, in via del Progresso n. 4, at 180 mt. above sea level, simply because the hilly gradient breeze makes the cooler evenings spent in the garden away from the noise and traffic of the harbour of Rinella. In this last resort, a fishing village, there is a basin with sandy beach of volcanic origin, which is only 900 meters from the property by taking the pedestrian trail that cuts the hill, or 2.8 km if you take the scenic/ provincial road by bus (bus stop under the house) or scooter or car.
The same identical distance of 900 meters separates "Villa Mariella" from the small port, always at Rinella, from where several hydrofoils and ships connect Salina to other six islands, as well as to Reggio Calabria, Messina, Palermo and Milazzo. The beach of Rinella has several beach areas either free or equipped with deck chairs, umbrellas etc.
